karma ain’t no bitch

I know a lot of people
who don’t believe in God

I don’t know anyone
who doesn’t believe in karma

Looking back over my
six years of clean time

I noticed that
the power
greater than me
that
returned me
to sanity
was the
Narcotics Anonymous
(NA)
program

not God

The God of
my understanding is
Buddhism’s
cause and effect
spiritual principle of
karma

not Christianity’s God

There are
76,000
NA meetings
worldwide each week

The 12-step meetings
held in countries
where
Buddhism predominates

are
attended by
recovering addicts
who never heard of
Jesus

While some pray to God

I meditate about
many moral questions
with answers
that are
not
black and white

Many moral questions
have answers
that are gray

(maybe yes
maybe no)

It’s not always
black and white
what to do
and
what not to do
or
if you should do
anything at all

Karmic energy
affects my
life
intentions
actions
and
inactions

I discovered

What’s
the right thing
to do
if anything?

became the
easiest question
with

some of
the hardest answers
of my recovery

Once
I turned
my will
and
my life
over to
karma and the universe

I increasingly ran into
such moral questions

It’s
the gray areas
that
require a
good sponsor’s wisdom

Perhaps
in a subsequent life

I’ll achieve great
wisdom
and
nirvana

Meanwhile
I get along OK
with

my love of meditation

and

belief in karmic energy

and

my sponsor’s wisdom

to help me
sort it all out

Karma
is a belief
about how
energy

interacts
with
energy

If you send
your good
energy
and
deeds

to
another
place or person

good things happen

to
that
place
or
person

and to you too

It’s
just the opposite
for
bad energy

No one
prays to karma

so
no prayers for me
please

Instead
let’s meditate

on
how recovery
reduces addict suffering

and on
how recovery
increases addict happiness

Keep this thought in mind

When we try
to pick out
anything
by itself

we find it
hitched to

everything else
in the universe

And that’s
The Truth
