addicts are 100% everywhere
There’s a reason it’s
called “step work”
It really is work
And there is no workaround
AND THAT’S THE TRUTH
“We are the 99%”
is a
political slogan
widely used
during the
2011 Occupy Wall Street
movement
The movement
opposed the
money and power
of the
remaining 1%
When I
lived life
high and drunk
as a
one percenter
I never
thought much about
all the rest of
the remaining
99 in 100
That is
until
when at age 57
I lost everything and
ended up
homeless
living in last place
100th in 100
living under a bridge
and
carrying with me
all my remaining
worldly possessions
in a brown paper bag
All I could think
about then
was
How I’m gonna get a
pack of cigs
a donut
a cup of coffee
and
a bump?
That was the
second time in my life
I became homeless
The first time
I became homeless
was on my
18th birthday
when
my mother
threw me out of the house
I quickly learned
then
how to
take care of myself
Never once since
have I received
a penny of support
from anyone
The first time
I became homeless
I had a car
I had no car
the second time
I became homeless
because
I sold my Mercedes-Benz
to get money
for drugs
Getting back on my feet
the second time
I became homeless
took
a little longer
than the first time
The first time
in my life
I did my own laundry
I was 54 years old
after I finally
perforated my nasal septum
and
had to stop snorting coke
because
there was nowhere left
in my nose
to snort anything onto
and
began smoking and injecting meth
because
snorting meth hurts like hell
and
I spent the next four years
not working
one single day
while I
spiraled all the way down
to living
under a bridge
AND THAT’S THE TRUTH
When I was #1 in 100
I thought a lot about
all the people
who ranked
above me
#1 in 1,000
#1 in 10,000
#1 in 100,000
#1 in 1,000,000
and so on
It always seemed
to me
they were the happy ones
Everyone wants to be happy
The
income and wealth
scale
on planet Earth
so far
goes all the way up to
#1 in 8,000,000,000
That’s how many people
currently live on our planet
Whoever is
#1 in 8,000,000,000
must be the
happiest person
on Earth
I thought
I miss
my dear life-long friends
Mr and Mrs Cokehead
who lived their lives
as
#1 in about 1,000,000
He was
one of my mentors
and
she was
a beautiful person
Addiction killed
Mr and Mrs Cokehead
who
left two
teenaged orphan girls to
get on with their lives
on their own
To be honest
when I was
part of the rat race
I was never happy
Now that
I think
about it
Mr and Mrs Cokehead
were
never
really
happy
either
It seems I
got no satisfaction
When you are
a suffering addict
you don’t
get no satisfaction
My first sponsor
and
the traditional 12 Steps
taught me
how to
get satisfaction
I suggest that
you
GetAFuckingSponsor
and
get you some
honest
satisfaction
too
As far as
happiness goes
I really
don’t think
anyone ever
found happiness
by
comparing themselves
to
how they fit
on a
scale of
1 to anything
I only got happy
after
I permanently
jumped off
the bandwagon
Ya feel me?
If you
can’t wait
until
you have done
the work
and
you want some
Instant Satisfaction
consider this
You are
most likely
smarter than
4,000,000,000
other people
who currently
live on
planet Earth
All that
means is
you are
above average
or
#1 in 4,000,000,000
if all
you wanna do
is compare
yourself to
below average people
Satisfied?
Probably not
There is no
Instant Anything
that’s really worth having
That’s why
winning the lottery
is a sucker’s bet
The odds are
100,000,000 to 1
against you
I call
the lottery
the “idiot tax”
There’s a reason it’s
called “step work”
It really is work
And there is no workaround
AND THAT’S THE TRUTH
I bet these guys
