there’s no place like home
Welcome home
A.A. and NA meetings are the
friendliest and safest
places on Earth
No matter who you are or
what you are or
where you’ve been or
what you’ve done
everyone is honestly welcome
to attend an
A.A. or NA meeting
You don’t have to
do anything
or
say anything
at an
A.A./NA meeting
if you don’t
feel like it
You can just sit there
and
listen
and
say nothing
for the entire hour
if
that’s what you
feel like doing
Some meetings
have a tradition
where they
say a prayer
at the beginning
or
at the end
If prayer is not your thing
you can just sit there
and
not participate
No one cares
No one will say a word
No one will even
look at you funny
To offset the
cost of
rent
lights
and
free coffee
put a couple of dollars
in the hat
if you can
when
it’s passed around
If you ain’t got
a couple of bucks
to spare
that’s OK
Everyone
in the room
has there
has been
in your shoes
at one point
or
another
No one cares
No one will say a word
No one will even
look at you funny
Sometimes in meetings
you hear someone share
something funny
Sometimes what
you hear
is not funny
at all
Sometimes
you hear
someone share
something interesting
Sometimes you
don’t hear a
damn thing
that’s interesting
Sometimes
I just sit in meetings
and
meditate on my
own thoughts
and
don’t listen to anyone
No one cares
just as long
as you
don’t disrupt the meeting
or
interrupt anyone
who is sharing their
experience
strength
and
hope
with the group
In case
the meeting chairperson
asks if you have
something to share
and
you don’t feel like
saying anything
the polite thing to say
if you are at
an A.A. meeting is
Hi
I’m Mary
I’m a recovering alcoholic
and
I’m just here to listen
The polite thing to say
if you are at
an NA meeting is
Hi
I’m Joe
I’m a recovering addict
and
I’m just here to listen
However
if you do feel like
saying something
then feel free to share
anything you feel like saying
about your recovery
experience
strength
and
hope
Just be sure to
limit yourself to
three to five minutes
so other people have time
to share
what’s on their mind
Always remember to
introduce yourself
before you share
your recovery
experience
strength
and
hope
by saying
Hi
I’m Mark
I am a recovering alcoholic/addict
before you share
and
Thank you
for letting me share
when you’re done
Everyone in the room is
there to help you
stay clean and sober in
any way they can
If you don’t have a sponsor yet
then share this
Hi
I’m John
I’m a recovering addict/alcoholic
I’m looking for help
finding a sponsor
Thank you for letting me share
Someone will probably
come up to you
after the meeting
and
introduce themselves
If not
then find the
meeting chairperson
You may be surprised
how helpful he or she is
And that’s
